Camellias by the Window, 12x9 on canvas (unframed)

"Camellias by the Window," 12x9 oil on canvas was painted from Camellias picked fresh and placed on the windowsill of my studio window. The back-lighting, always intriguing and exciting to me, and throwing interesting, luminous shadows, was the "push" to paint. I was pleased with the "ying-yang" effect of the cool colors in the shadows of the flowers and the warm colors in the lit sides of the same.

In all, "Camellias by the Window" is a simple, yet captivating composition sure to warm and charm.
